Is the English version available yet? I have a niece that I wanted to give it to as a Christmas present last year, and saw the English version was to be ready in 2013. We are anxiously awaiting it's arrival.  I have not been able to find it, so if it's been finished & published can someone please direct me to where I can purchase it, or if there is a release date available, please share that info. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Anaums !! Yes, I announced 2013 cause the person that was translating it seemed to work on it at the time but I don't have any news any more and I have no the skill ether the time to do it myself. So I'm soO sorry but for now, the book is not gonna be published in English. The only version out there since 2010 is the original French version. :/ www.thebookedition.com/l-art-d…

Not yet !! We still waiting for the complete translation done by a native English speaker that nicely proposed to translate the book. I can't do it myself as I'm not that good in English. So Every English speaker around the world (no kidding) is waiting for that English version of the book.

i agree with RadishStick you should allow a native english speaking person to edit the translation befor you go to print
there afe many little idioms that would need to be addressed

Okay after thinking of what I wanted to say for 10mins I figured out what I forgot to ask. When you cross hatch or "contour hatch" how far should the lines be. Like, if I were doing a hand in black pen, should the crosshatching be several of tiny lines and i just keep repeating it over and over...I am having trouble explaining this.
Lets say you are doing a hand about 8in by 8in...should one line be like an inch in then do another inch in line then another inch line or should they be smaller consecutive lines, like 1cm line then another 1cm line...

Here is one of my drawings, [link]
On one of the cheeks you can tell the lines are fairly long. is that wrong?

For one thing, you have to keep the line of your hatching no more the 2 or 3 cm. Otherwise, you will have a hard time to control your hatchings. Keep them light and clean. Here is a video to train your hand. [link]

Secondly, if you don't draw a flat surface or flat ton, you have to draw with curved hatchings and respect the form of the subject to give it some volume.

I'm not gonna tell you everything written in the book but with what I just say in mind, you should be able to get some progress.

Very much looking forward to it. The illustrations on the cover pages are indicative of the wonderful works and information contained within, of this I am certain. Both as a fan of your works and as a learning tool, I await very patiently its English language release. To add it to my collection of artbooks and use it for its value as a resource of experience and expertise. All the best Sir! (the scent-sibles are great, thx again for the heads up):)

Same for me. You have to work with a paper towel under your working hand and constantly clean the tip of you pen before it smudge. With practice, you clean it with out even taking attention to it. It become an automatism. After a wild, smudge problem is an old story :)

I'd love to buy it in English! But I suggest that you get a native English-speaker to read it for you before it is published in English, just to correct any mistakes! This would make English speakers more eager to buy it. :)
